Lobley Hill Primary School investigate ecologies around Dunston Staiths

Pupils and staff from Lobley Hill Primary School explore wildlife and environments on and around Dunston Staiths and riverside. Four school groups took part in bird-watching, tree identification, pond-dipping and exploring micro-environments, as part of the Staiths STEM project. Pupils used their own science field books to document their findings, which will inform a series of artworks inspired by the local ecologies.

With thanks to Mrs Dorward, Yr 6 pupils and staff, Clare Ross (Gateshead Environment Officer), Kirsty Pollard (Durham Wildlife Trust) and Lindsay Duncanson – project artist
